On a gorgeous Saturday in October, approx 24 ladies got together and sewed for 12 hours. The Kilmore Hall was full of noisy machines, laughter and general sewing untidiness. A world of very happy clutter....
Some people worked on their own thing and others took part in a scrappy quilt workshop which was being run by one of our members.
Scrappy Quilts....
Two ladies had exceptional taste - they were both using very similar fabrics in Japanese - very nice...
These two quilts and the two white ones (above) are all made using exactly the same pattern, but different fabrics really do change the appearance of the pattern.
A special thank you to RC who provided the workshop and assisted everyone during the day.
The item pictured below is not quilted, nor is it knitted - but it is crochet! The very clever RI has made this knee rug as a gift for someone special in favourite colours. Beautiful to touch, it sure will bring brightness to a room and a person. Lucky recipient!
The show'n'tell of projects continued on - some truly stunning work....
Some projects are from previous Kilmore Quilters workshops and others are from different places. There was certainly lots of eye candy and ideas being thrown around during the day.
Dedicated sewing days like the 10-10 days allow for creativity, sharing thoughts and helping each other over sewing hurdles.
A couple of ladies even knitted when they grew tired of their sewing machines.
In the Irish Chain quilt (left) what has not shown up in the photo are the machine embroidered flowers, birds and insects which adorn the big white squares, which is a shame because JG spent lots of time with her own designs and then making the quilt to suit.

JL has been working on her project for some time now - but those fleur de lis blocks are only 2in big, hand cut and machine appliqued. There will be lots of them around her next border as you can see. WOW!
